Reading Help!

Published

I have been accepted to the Nursing Program and I know that there will be a ton of reading involved. I have a hard time retaining the information that I have read :banghead: and I know that I will not have the time to go back and re-read the entire chaper time and time again. Can anyone suggest and tips on how I can retain the information that I have just read while I'm reading or some books or websites that I can look at?

Then if you ldon't mind filin a little, Walmart has great small index card boxes to file your cards in for $2-$3. You can pick up a pkg of white label stickers and label the boxes for the chapters or topics they cover. Depending on what your studying...you could label them something like, "G.I. System" on one and fill it w/ everything having to do w/ the G.I. inc. diseases, nursing interventions etc. Or if your studying Careplans, you could include colored tabs to keep them separate at the top and separate them according to Assessment, Diagnosing (nursing), Planning, Interventions and Evaluation. Hope this helps...just remember to keep them simple, factual, use your own words if it helps. This also helped me out EXTREMELY w/ pharmacology and Acid base balances and electrolytes. :nurse:

I just realized that I spelled Cushion's disease, Cushings...(oops)! LOL!!! :imbar

I agree with a poster on page one. I can read the same thing over and over and still wonder what I read. I know this is not a strong point for me so I make sure to make it on time to every class and really pay attention. I remember so much more this way. I rarely get through all of my readings, but I pay attention in class and study my notes that I take in class. I am going into my last year and have maintained a GPA close to 3.8, so try not to worry too much. I do not consider myself a gifted student at all, if I can do it, anyone can. Good luck!
