I have taken all my pre-reqs for nursing school and I'm at a 3.0. If I re-take Math (Algebra) and Psych 101 and get an A it will raise my GPA to a 3.42. I'm not great in Math but I feel fairly confident in Algebra if I have the right professor and I feel very confident in Psych. I wanted to take Chemistry just in case I need to apply to a BSN program. I don't want to take Chemistry, Math and Psych all in one semester. Should I retake the classes not really knowing if I will get an A? Thanks in advance for your insight.

That is the chance you take. I usually recommend that a person not retake a class unless they got a C or, of course, below. Sometimes that A remains elusive.
Right I hear you. I have a c in psych (I'm not sure how except it was my first year in college and perhaps I was stressed out) and I got a B in Math. I just want to increase my chances of getting into school you know. A 3.0 just seems so low compared to what other class mates have and even with a high TEAS/Kaplan score I can't imagine a 3.0 would stand out.
Thanks for the response.
Does your school even allow retakes if the class was originally passed? Community colleges across the board in my state no longer allow a person to retake a course in which the original grade was a C, unless they have to repeat it for recency, i.e. microbiology course A, B, or C grade is more than five (or whatever the criteria) years old. Also you need to see what the rules are for repeat courses. Some schools will only look at the original grade no matter what you do, etc. And it also does not matter so much for the courses that are not prereqs to the nursing program, such as micro, anat, phys, etc. Usually math does not matter so much, but psych might be included in that group that they look at more closely.
Yes they do. I got a C in A&P 2 and retook that class the following semester. I will check all this again to be sure though. I would hate to do all this planning just to hear that I can’t retake it. I don’t want to retake the classes but I’m not sure what else to do to increase my GPA. My back up plan is to apply to a BSN program. It’s just another year of pre-reqs which I’m not happy about.
Another way to raise your GPA is to take other classes (and of course get those A's). Go ahead and take the remaining required courses for the BSN program that you would probably enter. Get A's. For example, ASN program might only require one semester of chem, but BSN program wants two sem of chem (like my school). Go ahead and take the second semester now. Or, look for "easier" courses that you are more likely to pull an A in. Group those courses for a minor at your proposed BSN school. Just make sure that you don't exceed the allowable number of credits at the present level. Scour the fine print of the course catalog of your school to see what the rules are. Good luck.

Talk to a nursing admissions counselor as well, at any program that you plan to apply to-don't count on just one-so you don't miss anything-good luck
