Well was hoping for better news...would love to relocate back home....(Louisiana) but my goodness, they should make it easier to transfer nursing license..like someone said.....nursing shortage must not be that bad or they would make it more nurse friendly....we are by all accounts BUSY with demanding jobs, etc.... :jester:

Wow, I got my endorsement in a week and a few days. I had them send me an app and then I downloaded the temp app off their website. That way I had all the application stuff filled in by the time the fingerprint cards, etc. came. Then I did the running around and overnighted it to the BON. I faxed my school to send transcripts and my "certificate of graduation" or whatever its called. They did that really quick, I was surprised.

When I called two days later the, very rude, lady in the endorsement department told me it would be 7-10 business days until she got the app from the front desk. That was Thursday. Monday morning I logged in and saw that I had a permit up on the website.

You do have to have an instate address, though. I used a friends.

I was really thinking that endorsing my Indiana license to Louisiana was going to be a nightmare. There is a lot of paperwork involved and the the staff are not very friendly if you call with questions. In fact, they act down right frustrated and put out if they ask you a question and you're not quick to answer. Also, they are constantly changing the requirements for endorsement.

My funny story- I sent in all paperwork certified mail. It was confirmed that all the forms were received April 16th. I called 2 weeks later to confirm that all forms from other institutions (nursing school, place of employment) had been received. The man I was talking to laughed and told me there was no way he could confirm that in a timely manner and told me to call back in 4-6 weeks. So I kept checking online for my license with no luck.

Finally, I called the LSBN again (May 26) . The woman there could not find my application! Turns out, they had misspelled my name. She then told me I should write legibly when sending in legal documents. I kindly let the woman know that I had typed my application. She became a little defensive, but she did fix the issue in a timely manner.

All things considered, I've been through worse treatment, but it was far from pleasant. If they had not misspelled my name, I would have had my license in 4 days short of a month.
