  1. Hello! Just sharing since I am so excited! I recently accepted a position as a case manager in hospice. I have felt guided to do this for years and finally worked up the nerve to put myself out there and give it a try. I was an LPN for 7 years and have been and RN for 2 and a half. In that time I've done LTC/ Rehab, MDS, Medsurg and Dialysis. I've been reading the posts on advice for new CMs and taking it all in. Anyway, just had to share! Wish me luck!
  2. I was really thinking that endorsing my Indiana license to Louisiana was going to be a nightmare. There is a lot of paperwork involved and the the staff are not very friendly if you call with questions. In fact, they act down right frustrated and put out if they ask you a question and you're not quick to answer. Also, they are constantly changing the requirements for endorsement. My funny story- I sent in all paperwork certified mail. It was confirmed that all the forms were received April 16th. I called 2 weeks later to confirm that all forms from other institutions (nursing school, place of employment) had been received. The man I was talking to laughed and told me there was no way he could confirm that in a timely manner and told me to call back in 4-6 weeks. So I kept checking online for my license with no luck. Finally, I called the LSBN again (May 26) . The woman there could not find my application! Turns out, they had misspelled my name. She then told me I should write legibly when sending in legal documents. I kindly let the woman know that I had typed my application. She became a little defensive, but she did fix the issue in a timely manner. All things considered, I've been through worse treatment, but it was far from pleasant. If they had not misspelled my name, I would have had my license in 4 days short of a month.
  3. Shoes off in the car. Scrubs in the laundry, hop in the shower. Then I eat and watch T.V. Sometimes Wii fit :)
  4. www.rmfscrubs.com Has anybody ordered from this site? The prices look fantastic but I'm not sure. Starting a new job that requires navy and/or white and those are the two colors I wear the very least when it comes to scrubs. Any info is appreciated!
  5. Hunter green scrubs with school patch on right sleeve... much better than LPN school. That required white grenny shirt with white tapered leg pants. We had to wear a white apron with green and kakhi diagnal stripes. Of course white shoes... and can you believe mandatory white underwear? :smackingf
  6. You're making the right move by staying single. No one needs the added stress of a brand new relationship in nursing school. I started dating a pushy guy toward the end of LPN school... and he had to go!! My grades suffered and it was so not worth it. Now I'm married (6 yrs later, different man) and back for my RN. My hubby is wonderful and it can still be hard at times. There's time for dating when you're done!!
  7. Congrats!!! I jumped up and down when I was accepted... then reality hit! HaHA! Seriously, I'm really happy for you!
  8. It's really hard, I know! But critical thinking skills are required. Give yourself time to adjust, don't give up!
  9. I know that Ivy Tech transfers to Ball State. Ball has an online ASN to BSN that I plan on continuing with. Good Luck!
  10. I understand. I wasn't forced into this, but I really couldn't afford years and years at a university (I had to pay for my own schooling). So, I knew I could become a nurse rather quickly and be able to support myself. Going to graduate ASN in May and feeling anxious about it. I hate the technical/ medical side of all this as well. I'm calm in emergencies and I can handle it, but I have no passion for it. Hoping that I just haven't found the area of nursing that I love.
  11. I am a 29 year old mother of twin babies! I've been an LPN for 6 years and will graduate from the transitional program May 2010. I'm so ready to be done. I have worked neuro/uro, LTC, and dialysis. Not sure what I want as an RN but I'd love to try L&D or Psych.
