First of all I would like to give glory to God my Savior for helping me pass this Test. Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Yes! finally, after two fails I finally PASSED this NCLEX with 75 questions. I promised myself that if I pass I would post my journey here so that people like me would find encouragement and also find at least a little comfort while going through the review process.
A little bit about myself, I graduated in the PHILIPPINES and when I was in school, I did not take Nursing seriously as I ought to, I just wanted to pass and that's it. So I'm a B and a C student in Nursing school. I also have ADD so Its hard for me to focus on one thing and I'm everywhere (Imagine how review was like for me LOL but I'll get to that).
I graduated 2011 and since I got married and had a baby I did not take my Nclex till January 2013. Anyways, on my 1st try, I tried to study well So I just used Hurst and also KAPLAN watch the videos and did SOME questions here and there and that's it. Well, I was wrong in the way I studied...SOOOO WRONG. Took the test then BABAM!! computer shut off at 75 and I got a BIG F! hahaha
The 2nd time, I wanted to study harder and better because I did not want to fail again but I didn't know how to study I thought studying content is enough to pass so I used Hurst again for content but this time I added LAcharity and Saunders (Saunders is so intimidating especially for a person like me LOL). great study materials but I did not utilize it well; also, I couldn't focus so every time I started to study I started to shake cause I could not sit still I wanted to go somewhere My mind is everywhere.
So that same year July 2013 I took my test 2nd time around and BABAM!! there it is I failed with 265 questions. Talk about FAILURE AFTER FAILURE. So I decided I don't want to be a nurse anymore I wanted to do something else. so I went back here in the US and I got a job at a restaurant and sure thing I got promoted to general manager in a span of 6 months and I forgot about being a nurse. But one day something Hit me and made me think about nursing and how my life would be If I was a nurse and also my parents were encouraging me to give nursing another chance. So I prayed About it and you know what my husband was there to support me so I quit my job so I can focus on my study but this time the Lord answered my prayers and a friend of mine recommended me to this private review that takes place in New jersey.
Here is the KEY to my SUCCESS in NCLEX.
When my parents heard of this private review place in NJ they said that I should go there and by the way I live here in Knoxville Tennessee so in order for me to go there I have to travel 13 hours drive but my parents encouraged me to go there and with their help and my husband's I did go. (talk about the sacrifices that my loved ones do for me LOL).
My friend said that this review center Helps Internationally graduated students and also students who fail MILLION times and the passing rate is 100%! So gave it a try and MY OH MY. the way she teaches is different from everything I heard or seen. I understood how NCLEX works more. Her tips on answering NCLEX is way way better than the decision tree. Easy to follow and fun to do too! She met us 3x a week for 3 weeks and after that she has a 5 week study plan.
to make this long story as short as possible, I went back here in Tennesse and started doing my 5 week study plan. Remember I had ADD so I had to do something about it. I'm not endorsing this but this helped me is the essential oil that I USE before I study. and I put some on my wrist then I put some on my Diffuser talk about a big help!! BIG BIG help. help me to be calm and focus more. Anyways, Finished my 5 weeks, rested for one week then another 5 weeks study plan then finally I scheduled for JAnuary 26, 2016 @ 9:45am.
That morning I felt nervous but really calm about it (I think it's the oils heheh) which is weird unlike the 2 times that I took it. This time was different It's not because I was very confident but I guess It's because I did my best in studying and whatever is in store for me I'll accept it. Did not tell anybody about the exam except my husband. I went in there and did the whole process thing and I took the test! I thought I was failing because I had content type questions. a lot of prioritizing, infxn control and SATA! Then it shut off at 75. And I thought men Am I that stupid to have failed with 75 questions? anyways, Went home and just slept on the pain and the agony of having to wait...
OH YEAH! I did PVT and got the good pop up but I did not rejoiced just yet just cause I'm not confident with PVT but it gave me a little comfort heheh...
48 hours later payed 7.95 then BABAM! PASSED.. I cried my heart out.
BY the ways I'm 34 weeks pregnant so I'm glad I did not go to labor early because of Excitement!
So my encouragement to you First timers or Even for those who took it a million times, Don't give up have courage! have faith! If an ADD mom can pass this boards, So COULD YOU!!!

I have done Hurst, Kaplan, etc. Tried to pass boards for .....times (I don't wanna say how many times because I feel so embarrassed about it) nothing works for me. I enjoyed reading your "journal" and thanks for all the encouragement.
