3rd semester advice!!!!!

Hello,

im in my 3rd semester of nursing school and my classmates and I have been struggling with the med-surg material. We have a total of 8 test and a final each test counts as 11% of final grade and final is 12% as of right now I have a 74.6% and we have 3 test left and a final. My question is have yall ever been in this situation I truly believe I can pass even though it will be very hard. We have to have a 79.5 which rounds to 80% to pass class.

Med Surg is a ton of information. And it helps if you think about a whole patient, and functioning.

Beyond that, read your chapters, highlight. Take notes in class. Look at the chapter objectives. And do the VOCABULARY!! Start thinking globally--meaning get to know lab values. Get to know medications. Make index cards. This will help you going forward as well and have a lot of information on pocket size carry around with you form.

Best wishes!

Easiest way I found? Take good notes in class, make an outline of each unit you cover in class, and as you are writing the outline use your own words, which forces you to focus and understand what your actually writing. Ditch the highlighters and reading entire chapters at a time. Study smart, use your time effectivley. If you dont understand a concept or require more in-depth knowledge, then consult the book and include what you learned in your outline.

Let me emphasize, hand write your outline, it engrains it in your memory much more efficiently.

And here comes the magic, once you have your outline for each unit, you go over the outline over and over and over and over, minimum 8-10 times, spread out over a few days. You will know the material, key is making a succinct, to the point outline. Even so, I have closer to 50 pages of outline for very exam, but it truly does pay off, you'll know your stuff
