RCBC nursing spring 2019

Published

Hi everyone. Rowan College at Burlington County's nursing spring 2019 application just opened on May 1, and the deadline is July 31.

I have everything completed, except anatomy 2 which I plan to take either this summer or this fall. (Preferably this fall)

From what I've read in these posts is that they've seem to just be accepting applicants with all their pre-reqs completely finished.

As for me, I still have anatomy 2 to take. Should I still apply for the spring 2019 semester, or wait for the next application cycle? Thanks in advance.

@gracies77 oh wow! The suspense continues. Thank you for the update!

Hi, yes I know. I was a student there from 2015-2018.i completed all my pre-read there. My daughter actually just started their nursing program this fall. I refuse to be retested in classes I've already had and got A's in. The Hesi is a waste. They need to look at patient care classes, medical terminology, basic math, and sciences and not focus on reading comp, chemistry, vocabulary etc. It's a 5 hour test and very nerve wracking. There is a practice workbook, but most of the questions aren't even on the Hesi.

@cookiesnmilk. Reading comp, vocab, chemistry isn't going to make good nurses. If it's med term vocab then yes. They need to make the admission tests medical related and not what students had in high school.

@tbone1975 couldn't have said it better. I took the hesi and failed it by a point! I received a 95 in the chemistry portion & a 97 in the biology portion but of course I unfortunately messed up on the grammar section with a 79; needing an 80 to pass. The hesi is very nerve wracking and the irrelevant material is ridiculous! So I'm planning to retake the hesi soon.

@cookiesnmilk, I was in the same boat but didn't pass Math by 2 points. I have been a tech for over 25 years and I was an Office Manager for an ob/Gyn for 10 years. I've worked in hospitals and in Drs offices and have the skills. Nursing isn't only about grades, it takes empathy, compassion, caring and treating patients like your own family. It amazes me how mostly everyone passes the critical thinking with flying colors, and it's because it's all about nursing and putting yourself in certain medical situations. That is what should count.

I was missing Nutrition, but i completed it in the summer.

What why did they change it! Oh well, more stressful days.

I received my admissions decision email today at around 5pm, I unfortunately was denied :( Hopefully when I'm finished with a&p2 I'll be accepted when I reapply. Good luck to everyone else!

I am very sorry to hear that. I am sure you will be accepted for fall once everything is complete. I haven't heard anything yet, but I know I will get the same denial. Best of luck to you and hopefully we'll meet one another in the fall. Keep your head up!

Aw thank you so much @tbone1975 for the uplifting words! I appreciate it so much :) that is the plan for me. best of luck to you!!

i know im late to this thread but just wanted to give my experience with what happened to me. i went to the nursing open house and specifically asked as did numerous other people there if "all prereqs needed to be completed prior to applying" the answer was NO! they said so long as you have the bulk of them completed especially the sciences then they will look at your app. i got denied due to having 2 classes missing , nutrition and philosophy. i think it was misleading to tell people that when its not true. i will apply once im done those 2 classes.

Thank you for your reply! Yep, I was on the same boat. It’s ridiculous. I would understand if it was not electives! I would like to update that I was accepted to RCGC nursing and will be starting this fall :) their program was much more lenient and easier to get into than RCBC!
