Rationale behind jobs posted but not ready to fill yet

Hello....

Can anyone enlighten me to why jobs are sometimes posted but not ready to hire yet? I know with the hospital system that I graduated from, if the jobs are posted they are ready to fill them (per the recruiter) but they don't have anything at present so I'm exploring the other organization, and I'm not sure how they operate.

I'm just curious in case I don't hear from them for the few positions that I applied for, why they post them in advance? Or what may be a reasonable wait time?

Also, I do know they aren't necessarily looking for experience as they are pretty explicit on the job summaries if they are or aren't looking for even 6mos vs no mention of prev experience necessary and stating that even a temp license is okay.

That's why I'm wondering why they would post even those types if they're not necessarily looking for experience? I can understand posting, but not ready to fill if they are looking for experience.

Also, what is the norm for them to contact back after you do apply? And then is there a rough estimate as to after you interview, should you expect to wait to hear back? I'm reading that some have taken a month and not being used to those kind of wait times in my previous career, I'd just like to prepare myself for what I'm looking at.

Of course I could be jumping the gun as it's only been 2 business days that I applied, but I want to be working! I've heard around here anyway, the freeze is loosening I hope that's true.

Keep searching! Wish you luck in finding a new job.

I wouldn't waste too much time trying to figure out what is going on here. Just keep applying to openings and deal with the responses that you receive. Make certain you follow up after a reasonable period of time. Good luck.

A lot of times the temp license is in reference to out of state candidates who may have a temp license pending endorsement. In other words, just because it says temp license, that doesn't mean they aren't looking for experience.

Many hospitals post job openings because they are required to despite having no intentions of hiring anybody from the outside. When they post these positions, there is a high chance that it is already filled by an internal candidate. You will drive yourself nuts trying to figure why hospital x or y does this and that. Just keep applying and keep your fingers crossed.
