Rasmussen 2 year RN program advice

Published

Hello! I found a program at the local Rasmussen college here in town that I want to attend, but I have some concerns. I went to the information session today and was told a bunch of information. It's a 21 month program, 11 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Then you have to take and pass the NCLEX to become an RN. The school seemed really great, yet it is expensive. It costs 47,000. There are things that would be great for my family, a few being that it's only 2 years, you don't have to have pre-req classes, and there is not a waiting list. I have been reading reviews online, and they are mixed but mainly not so great. I don't want to waste my time and money, if companies don't respect this school and the nurses it produces. :( Does anyone have any advice or experience with the nursing program at Rasmussen? They say the ADN program is accredited. Thank you!!

I think it's a matter of where you live unless you can relocate upon passing the NCLEX. If you live in an area where experienced nurses are saturated, I would not recommend to go to the program. I don't think it's wise to pay $47,000 for no job. I live where nurse is short, and I have met more than handful of nurses who came to the area solely to get nursing experiences because they could not find a nursing job in their home.

If your area is looking for nurses or you don't mind relocation, I would say go for it. I currently have a co-worker (a nurse aid) who is thinking to go to Rasmussen for a nursing program. The main reason why she likes the program is that there is no waiting list.
