Rambling Physics and Chemistry question..now or later?

Published

Hi all!!

Please forgive me, I know this will be all a jumble...

I'm 27, back in school, really close to getting my Bachelors of Science (Psychology). I then plan on entering the accelerated program for my BSN.

Now I know I have a lot to think about, and definitely plan on shadowing a CRNA, and giving it time to when I actually HAVE a BSN and have done some work, but from all the research I've done, I think that CRNA is something that I would love..

My question is, I'm so close to graduating with my Bachelors, and the BSN program doesn't require me to get anymore Physics or Chemistry's, however I know it's a big part of CRNA. Should I postpone my graduation another semester or two to get the second Physics and Chemistry in, or should I just finish up what I need and then go from there when the time comes?

Thank you guys SO much. I lurk in this forum daily, and hope that I can one day be half the nurses and people you are. :)

Take care,

Tanya

I say just finish up now and take it from there. You have plenty of time to go back and take those other classes. Besides, what if later on you decide that that is not what you wanted to do....Just my two cents

Graduate now.

You've got so many years till you could apply for CRNA school...

Before that you've got to attend nursing school and get 1-3 years of ICU experience... you could get those extra science courses during that time...

Thanks so so SO much guys!!

Just wanted to get your opinions; I had read somewhere to "start early and take everything you can!"

I'm just ready to get out, get in it, and get on my way!!

Thanks again!

Take care,

Tanya

I'll echo what other's have written. Go ahead and finish, start your BSN. Many CRNA programs don't require you to take any chemistry or physics classes beyond what is required for nursing. These programs generally will tell you up front they will teach you what you need to know.

i'd have to agree w/ the rest of them. finish your degree & take the courses later if needed.

i'm entering crna school this fall. my undergrad bsn program didn't even require chemistry or physics so never took it. i just took the required biochem at a community college while i was working as a nurse. hope this helps!

Thanks Kevin and Pinki for your responses as well!! :)

Kevin, I really enjoy your posts at studentdoctors.net. I don't know how you have the patience and sanity to put up with some of the people over there, so kudos to you!!

Pinki--Congrats on your acceptance!!! I know you must be on cloud nine.

So thanks again EVERYONE and have a VERY happy Easter!!

Take care,

Tanya
