"You're too smart to be a nurse. Be a doctor"

Every time someone asks me what I want to do with my life and I say nursing, this is what they say, even my parents! I'm sure it's something every nurse has experienced. When people ask you this question, how do you reply? Do you have a good sassy comeback?

I reply I am too smart to be doctor. I like to work my shift and go home. No on call responsibilities ( I have a job where there is no call). I leave work at work. No 6 figure debt for school that will take decades to pay off...... No round the clock working hours (36-or-more-hour shifts? no thanks). No multi-year residencies and internships that kill my health and marriage. I could go on and on. If I had wanted to be a doctor, I would have been. I wanted to be a NURSE. That usually shuts them up.
