"Your application has been accepted by the admissions committee"

i am currently in college and am set to graduate in december 2011. while half way through my program, i thought i would apply to a part-time lpn program and today i finally got a letter.

it states:

"due to the limited interest in our part-time program, we are postponing the start date of the part-time program. we hope to attract more students and start the program in january 2012. your application has been accepted by the admissions committee and will be kept on file for one year. you will not need to submit anything else for the school year at this time. our goal is to develope a part-time program for admission in january 2012 with graduation in july 2013. we will keep you informed of our progress in admitting a part-time class."

so before i send them an e-mail i want some opinions, do you think that this is an acceptence letter and they are informing me that the program is not expected to start in january when they have enough students? or are they telling me that when we have more applicants for the part-time program we will determine if you will be accepted? does "your application has been accepted by the admissions committee" mean that i am accepted and just need to wait?

You could call and ask but it sounds like they are waiting to review your application until they get more applicants. Doesn't sound like you are in the program.

Yeah more than likely your not in. I did the same thing as you, applied to nursing school last year but I didn't get into the main school I wanted so I actually declined my other acceptance letters from a adn and bsn program so that I can graduate next August, well December if I decide to do a health minor. Good luck!

Okay, I finally got an email back from the school and they informed me that I am accepted into the part-time program that I applied for and are trying to get some more students and will be starting in January instead of August. So, I just hope that they get enough people for January or else back to square one again.

"Yes, you have been accepted for the part-time program. We are working

to increase the interest in the program so we may begin in January.

We will keep you informed of the status. Please feel free to call with

any questions or if you just want to check-in on the status.
