"waiting list" questions

So...I got good news and bad news, I wasn't initially accepted to the school I applied to. BUT I was told by the office that not only am I on the waiting list, I am first on the list!! They told me that I could be called anytime between now and the first week of school in January, but that if I am not called, the list does not roll over. Obviously every year is different, but I have no idea what to expect as far as my chances go for being called. Is anyone else on the waiting list? What were you told by your school? I just feel sort of in limbo still since I have to try and move forward, scheduling classes, but I can't stop thinking that I might somehow still get in! If I didn't get in, I think it would be horrible to know that I was THAT close and didn't make it. If anyone has any information or inspiration I'd really appreciate it!! :selfbonk:

YOU GUYS!!!! THEY CALLED ME TODAY!!!!!!!! I can't believe it...I'm accepted to the program! Thank you all so so so much for your support and I can't WAIT to start classes! AAAAHHH I'm going to be a nurse!!
