Just came across this website by an ER doc
http://gruntdoc.com/2005/10/tips-for-the-ed-drug-seeker.html
It has other interesting things; but, I though all would appreciate this one.

yeah, i had that one just the other night. this was after 10mg morphine wasn't helping her pain. i get so frunstrated when you know a drug seeker when you see them and recognize them, (and i only work part time). this patient was seen in our er 25 times in 2007 and has been there aleady 12 times since 2008 began. i told the doc if he was going to prescribe narcs to take home, that he needed to discharge the patient himself and give the discharge instructions, and script cause i was not going to do it. so, he changed the percs to motrin and tramodol....(of course the patient got angry at me, but i told them to follow up with their primary for narcotics, and pointed out the number of times they had been to the ed) i said no narcs today.....she stormed off.....oh well i say...boo boo kitty.:chuckle
