I am a new grad. I have had recruiters call me in response to my applications/resumes (which are written in clear english). The thing that irks me the most is when they ask you (after having read your resume, supposedly) how many months/years of nursing experience you have and then act shock when you do not have any or enough.
"Oh, you don't have X experience, we require X experience in our new hires, I am sorry."
What I want to say is "Oh, you require X experience but you do not require the ability to read? Because it says clearly on my application/resume what experience I've got!"
This happen to anyone else? Whats the deal? They are wasting my time by calling me before they have read through my info.

sorry, this is occurring to you.... but this happens, as you see, a lot. hr reps are not reading resumes... they just see "rn" and send your resume/application along with others to a hiring manager who has very little time to do anything but call applicants and set up interview appointments. hang-in there….

You think it would take less time to read the resume then it would to make a phone call. That must be very frustrating for you.
OP, you didn't really explain what your response was to these comments. Instead of just saying, "ok, thanks anyway" try to sell yourself more. When they say they require x experience, say something like: "while I don't have the RN experience you are looking for, I do have x amount of great experience as a (CNA, volunteer, nursing clinicals, etc.). I'm also a very quick learner, and, as my clinical faculty would tell you, I have excellent clinical skills. I really believe that I can be a great addition to yor Taft and I woul appreciate the opportunity to interview so I can explain more about my skills and experience. Would we be able to set up a convenient time to interview?"
