I don't know this yet. Does anyone here know which of the following are facts and myths?

> You should feed a cold and starve a fever;

> Poison ivy rash is spread by the fluid that leaks from the rash;

> Canker sores are very contagious, and;

> The best way to treat a fever is with an alcohol bath.

I say they're all myths, however an alcohol bath is a comfort care that will topically cool down a body. I doubt it'd make MUCH difference, but a nourished body recouperates better..so I'd feed a cold and a fever. I never understood that phrase anyway...as colds usually come with fevers. Poison Ivy is spread by the oil from the leaves...causing pustules. As far as I've read, they don't even know what causes canker sores.

There's my 2 cents

Although to add to the poison ivy thing, yes if the area is weeping it will spread and that's not from book that's from many encounters with poison ivy :)

If the poison Ivy is cleaned well, it shouldn't spread even if it weeps. I grew up around poison Ivy..and I didn't know why at the time..but I remember telling my mom she was wrong because it didn't spread when I scratched or picked at the bumps. (pustules)
