Hi. I've been at my per diem nursing home job for almost 3 years now. I haven't gotten a raise, and the working conditions are constantly getting worse.

I've reached my breaking point, with the constant begging to come in and disrespect of my time. They ask me to work when I'm at my 8:30-5 Monday through Friday job.

I guess I'm not really looking for advice, but for support. I'm so sad to be leaving this job I've known so well for a long time now. I know the residents and staff super well. But people are leaving left and right for similar reasons.

It's just so hard...any tips for someone like me?

I still work and am going to work for IntelyCare, another per diem job except they pay $10+ more an hour and I get to choose where and when I work. So not much is lost there.

Just...ugh!! I'm scared to work tomorrow and then put in my resignation for the DoN.

Any tips for moving on from a place you once loved? ?

As a matter of fact, yes.

For me it took accepting the fact that it was no longer the place that I once loved. It was as simple as that...and ultimately complicated at the same time, but that's what it boiled down to.

It is hard to accept because you have memories, you have learned things, you have grown, there are people there whom you enjoy, it used to be good for your self-esteem because you could operate on a professional level that was in line with your conscience.

Well, when things change and especially that latter thing is no longer true, that's it. That's just the end.

It'll be okay.

And don't be scared to give your resignation. Remember that other people/entities had choices to make and they made them. They didn't worry about how you were gonna feel about their choices.

Thank you so much. I put the resignation in that day after work. I feel much more free and lighter than I did.
