Anyone else on here applied to the QC pt program starting in January?
I was reading this thread and I was wondering if either of you had given any thought to applying to UMass Boston's traditional program. They take students in both the Spring and Fall semesters (as transfer students and as ppl seeking a secondary degree); the Spring 2012 deadline is Nov 1st (look at their website for more details). As for MCPHS Worcester program, their ABSN program deadline for the Jan 2012 start is also Nov 1st. I've done a lot of looking into programs since I wasn't accepted by MassBay's ASN program and so far I just know that these two schools accept students during Fall and Spring Semesters which makes them really appealing. I hope some of my info has given you some alternate options to look into :)
kelleyac-Just got a call today- there was an opening- and I accepted- orientation is tomorrow- Kind of crazy how things work out. Are you going aswell? You never told me if you were accepted ot not- or even planning to go.
Hi TaylorBean,
Congrats on the acceptance!! That is crazy how you just got called within a month of the start of classes.
I'm planning to apply to QC for Jan 2013 (career switcher here, so already have a BS and MS in my current field). Do you (or anyone else) have any tips on the application? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me.
Thanks

I too have my BS in another field. The application for Jan 2013 part time program might require the TEAS V exam, however for the Fall 2012 program the required test is still the Acuplacer- so as far as tips, I am unsure how they will rank applicants at that time. I know for the old way, they rank applicants firstly on the reading test score, then sentence skills, then math. The required pre- reqs are A & P 1 and Chem.
I assume I was the last one called off the waitlist because they called me the day before the last orientation. I was worried because my reading score was the lowest out of all my scores (102) out of 120.
I was looking at all programs for nursing including accelerated programs however nursing is such a competitive field to get into and I feel that Quincy makes it fair for all applicants to rank them this way vs. other schools that require all sorts of recommendations, previous GPA and essays.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks TaylorBean. I do have to clarify whether I should study Accuplacer or TEAS V. I'm taking Bio & Chem in Spring so I hope I can get A&P 1 done by the deadline.
I did look at other programs (Accelerated BSN and direct-entry MSN). They really make you jump through the hoops and it's so competitive. Personally I'd rather pay less and get an ADN first, then most likely go for a RN-MSN bridge or at least a BSN online (ideally paid for by employer).
