Hi, everyone.I'm about to take the TEAS, and I got most of the math right on my practice tests, but this one is throwing me:
(x2+4x+4)-(x2-6x+9)
Those are supposed to be x squared, by the way.
My ATI book for the TEAS V says the answer is 10x-5, but I can only get -2x-5. Is the book wrong? Or am I really doing this problem wrong?
I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me!

You might be over thinking this.
Distribute the negative in the second half and add subtract like terms:
x^2 + 4x +4 -x^2 + 6x - 9
4x + 4 + 6x - 9
10x - 5
