Questions about travel nursing

Travel nursing sounds too good to be true. I'm wondering how exactly it works. Is the work consistent? How long does each job usually last? How much notice are you given before you're expected to move again? Are you responsible for finding housing in every place, or is there assistance? Do you sign a contract for a certain amount of time, and move wherever the agency wants you to during that time? Is the pay good?

Any advice is much appreciated!
