Does anyone have experience or knowlege re: is it legal to ask an applicant for licensure if they have ever been arrested vs. ever been convicted of a crime, plead guilty, no contest, etc.
After checking 15 states, only Louisiana asks an applicant if they have ever been arrested AND requires that they give this information even if the case has been dismissed and the record expunged.
Rather than checking all the states, thought I'd send this query out and see what replies I get. Thanks so much.

Yes, it is quite legal for the BON of every state to ask if one has been arrested and/or convicted of a crime.
If you have questions about a state to which you wish to endorse, please contact that state in question.
