questions of my response letter from california BON

Published

Good Day to all of you!!!

I am a nursing graduate from the Philippines.I received my response letter from the Board of Registered Nursing in California and it stated that I needed to submit additional documents.

These are the following documents they want me to submit.

1. Class schedule for the nursing program completed at DMCCF (my school).

2. Clinical rotation schedule and or student logbook reflecting dates, instructor's signature and location of the training you completed.

3. Transcripts.

4. Copy of visa or passport validating your entry and departure dates corresponding to the dates reflected on your educational transcripts...

I've already submitted #3 and #4 documents but what do they mean in #1 and #2???

Hope you can help me.

Thank you very much!

First of all, WELCOME to allnurses.com!:yeah::yeah:

I don't live in CA, and can only give you my best guess as to what the documents are, but anyway......

I believe that #1 would be a list of the courses you took to obtain your nursing degree - course name, description (from a course catalog if possible - telling what were the main topics covered in each class), and maybe how many credit hours each one. They may also want to know when (month & year)you took each class.

For #2, it looks like the CA BON wants proof that you had clinicals (time spent with patients in hospitals or medical facilities) in addition to just classes. Hopefully your nursing school has records showing where you did your clinicals, what dates, approximately how many hours were spent in each type of clinicals (medical/surgical, OB, pediatrics, mental health/psych, and any other areas). The CA BON probably wants something on official letterhead from your school with a staff member's signature "proving" that you actually had clinicals.

Good luck!

If you go on the California BRN website it will answer some of your questions: http://www.rn.ca.gov. They want to make sure that your nursing program meets the requirements of licensing in California. It has to be held to the same standard as our schools. They need to verify that your training was rigorous enough to qualify for an RN in CA. I'm sure it is fine, but that is why they are asking. Even if you were coming from another state, they would want this info. Good luck!

thank you for ur responses :-)
