Questions about OR policies

I know I have posted a bunch of newbie questions here, but I hope you don't mind two more!

A few hospitals I've spoken with re: OR positions said they have a policy that you must live within 30 minutes of the OR for when you are on call. Is this 30 minute radius standard for all OR's? Do all OR nursing staff go on call? Thanks!

Right now I have 5 adult dogs at home and a litter of NINE puppies. My wife just got an Aussie import the other day. Her friend and her co-own it and it is with a friend in LA for now. The import comes from a good friend of hers in Oz that shows all over the country. He is definitely a cutie! I travel back and forth and my wife stays home to take care of the "kids". Mike

Hey Mike,

Please pass on my congratulations to your wife for officially achieving sainthood. She sees you rarely and takes care of all those dogs.. Ouch! I know of quite a few females who would have divorced under far lesser circumstances.

I'd imagine that you have a rather lucrative secondary income source, both from racing, shows and sale of purebred pups. Nice if you have the patience to set it up.... I thought you lived in an isolated region, although your wife does not lack for canine companionship how does she manage?

Dog showing is not a money making business as some people would think. You are lucky if you only lose a few thousand dollars a year on them. My wife has gotten much better since moving out to the country. Thank goodness for phones and the internet. She has learned to buy practically anything on the "net" and holds some long distance relationships with her friends, ie, her friends in Oz and New Zealand! If it wasn't for the dogs we probably would have never moved to such remote locations. But if you could see where I live you would understand. After living for so long in a urban setting, the rural attraction is most satisfying. The first two years were tough but it has become so much better. I am now going out to burn leaves and work the property. Mike

Aaahhhh, the internet. Wonderful way to make friends. Have fun, I envy you the solitude of the wilderness, I see (and hear) it too little.
