One question has been lingering in my mind and thought no better way to ask in this forum. My instructor tells me that finishing p/d/a book is very important part of nclex prep. Well, i feel like i dont have time to finish it.
I am currently doing saunders as it the book of choice from both my instructor and suzzane........ if i follow suzzane's plan, i dont need to do p/d/a but i obviously feel guilty for not having time to finish p/d/a.
I know there are many nurses who followed suzzane plan but they did also use other prep materials as well like ncsbn, kaplan, feuer, pda etc.
So, i want to kind of know how many of you succesful candidates used strictly saunders and saunders only without other prep materials. Let me hear from you guys please.
Otherwise, I might have to reschedule again
to do pda.
wizard100,
it is really hard to make decision when people around you says saunders Q&A is too easy. I really debated myself if I should register with Kaplan also. I used saunders throughout my nursing school and i admit it was the best nursing book in all my classes.
after reading all the post here i started doing suzzane's plan. yes sometimes i do have doubt if only saunders is enough and if i am able to retain. i contacted suzzane directly to clear my head and she is very helpful and i suggest you pm her if you feel so guilty and caught in between.
God bless for people like suzzane and silverdragon for their constant help.
if you are comfortable with all the body systems, as in the pathophysiology then i would suggest you to focus on suzannes plan alone. but if youre the type of student who cant really be sure if youre ok with "medical surgical nursing", then reading Nursing books (piliterri, black, lippincott's) before reading the saunders comprehensive review book is highly suggested.
reason: saunders chapters are summarized yet credible. you'll find it uncomfortable if you just know the s/sx and not know WHY a certain disease causes that s/sx, so what happens is that, the student then browse his Nursing books to really get into deep to a certain topic, then goes back to his saunders book and say.."ahh....so thats why it causes the client's BP to rise";)
