Questions about nursing job in San Diego

Specializes in RN.

Hello,

I am moving to San Diego in a few months and would like to start a nursing staff job at a hospital in November. Does anyone have any suggestions on when I should start applying? I am not sure how long the hiring process takes. I don't want to apply too early and then have them want me to start right away if I am not moved yet. If anyone has any input on UCSD hospitals, Scripps, Sharps, etc. I am not familiar with the hospitals so any insight/pros and cons of them would be helpful. Is the best way to look for jobs on the hospital websites? Also, if anyone has any advice on when I should begin looking for housing that would be great too.

Thanks!

I cannot tell you about specific facilities in San Diego. You should get an idea during your interviews. November is only four months away. Start your job search now. The hospital website and Glassdoor will be a good start. If you do get an interview, simply give them your available start date.  "As of June 2023, the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment in San Diego, CA is $2,424. " Still want to move? As the rental market is so expensive, start your housing search now.

Consider a travel nurse position first.

Best Wishes.
