I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?
Took test on Monday. Got about 75 questions. I was sure I failed, but prayed I did. I got the results on Wed. I PASSED! Praise God. He was with me the whole way.
Psalm 34.5 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
The test is hard. But good studying, critical thinking, picking the BEST answer and trusting in God. Will help you.

I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions years ago. I knew that I had passed. The college I went to had us take a mandatory course on the NCLEX test and how it works which really helped as I understood how the test worked before I went in. Basically...for each question you get right the next question gets more difficult and for each question you miss the next gets easier. If your test questions are more difficult than basic nursing (ie...questions about chest tubes, etc) then you know you are passing. Also...if you are not doing well...it will go on for I think up to 265 questions....during that time the computer can stop if it feels you are passing well or failing horribily. If you take all 265 then you pass or fail the test based on if you answered the last question correctly. My advice....go in and take the test slow....re-read and re-word the questions. If you go to fast you miss the tricks.
I took my test on 2/2/08 and the computer stop at question 75 and it was a select all that apply question. I know I did not get that correct because I was praying that the computer would give me more question to prove myself, but it didn't and now I am sure I did not make it, yet I am already checking the BON to see if my name is up...
Again....you usually pass with a 75 question only exam. You have to be failing horribly to fail with a 75 question test as it usually will give you more opportunity to prove yourself. It is when you take all 265 questions that you haven't proven yourself....then the last question is critical and you will pass or fail based solely on your last question answer. Hope this helps all of you. Good luck.
I too had 75 questions and the computer shut off. Of course I became worried and thought I had failed but I PASSED! I just found out today and took nclex on monday.
I used Kaplan course. I think the more questions you do the better prepared you will be. But I didnt get any questions in my area of nursing (OB), I got mostly med surg and meds that I didn't feel like I knew. But it turned out.
So don't freak out when it shuts off at 75. From what I have been hearing so far from on here and from the students iI graduated with...it seems to be a good thing.
Good luck to everyone!

I just did the test, it was so horrible, I feel dumb, stupid, and nauseated. The worst thing I ever felt. On question number 74, I checked the answer at home, I picked the wrong answer. It shut off at 75. Anybody think I might fail? a friend of mine has 75 and failed. I know a lot of people say that 75 means most likelu you passed, I am so scared right now. I cried, and feel so down. Does anybody know the updated statistic of the 75 questions?

Hey JT! Most people who get 75 questions pass based on the poll on this thread. Just keep yourself busy for the next two days and don't check and recheck answers! I wish you luck!!!

That's the funny thing about nursing...Throughout nursing school, my feelings toward a test that I just took never coincided with the score that I got for that test. There were tests wherein i came out feeling confident only to realize that I didn't do as good as I expected. As for the NCLEX, the horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach began with question #1 and is still persisting. My nerves really ddn't help - it took me over 2 hours to answer the 75 questions. 2 hours! And to think that i'm used to finishing 50 item exams in well under an hour in nursing school! (i hate that we can't wear a watch while taking the test.) I'm ranting...can you tell?
Thanks for the vote of confidence though!
