Hello,

My family and I are planning to move to las vegas in August. I graduated in December and will take the NCLEX at the end of the month. How far in advanced should I start sending out my resumes? Will hospitals hire me with so little experience? Do the hospitals do phone interviews (from Wisconsin)? Last thing---How is Henderson for a place to live?

Thanks for the help

There are an abundance of RN jobs here in Las Vegas. Hospitals such as Sunrise and the Valley Hospitals (I think it is referred to as Valley Health Systems) have 100's of open RN positions. Positions are typically fairly easy to come by here... usually. I assume you will begin working as an RN soon in Wisconsin? That will give you a few months experience.

If I were you, I would call the nursing recruiters at those hospitals you are interested in and tell them you are moving here in August of '08 and would like to know when you should submit your applications. I know Sunrise used to offer relocation reimbursement and sign-on bonuses for out-of-state nurses, thus you may want to check with them on that.

I would assume hospitals would do phone interviews. I know many of our hospitals recruit from the Phillipines and they do phone interviews with them.

I live in Henderson and love it. It is well taken care of and "beautified", unlike Las Vegas. Henderson is a bit more expensive in some locations to live, but I think the public schools in Henderson supersede most of those in Las Vegas.
