Hi there,I have read that suzanne04 has been recommending NY in initial application for exam in the US. I just have the following questions:How long does it usually take NY to process the application once you have submitted the requirements?I saw that they require you to take these short online classes about child abuse and infection should I do that before applying or I can have that done afterwards? After I pass the exam, how many days, weeks or months till I get my license? Do I get a hard license right away?Does NY require finger printing?Do they require an english exam?If I take my exam outside the US I read that usually it takes 2 months to have a slot open but if for example I go and take the exam in NY would it be faster to get a slot?
Firstly, NY needs your CVS from CGFNS.
Now, based on what I read here in https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/quickest-way-getting-things-done-licensed-us-98305.html :
1. 1 to 2 months from the time NYSED receives the CVS report from CGFNS.
2. the child abuse course may be taken before or after passing the nclex. when you pass nclex, you will not be issued a license until you submit proof of compliance of this course.
the infection control course must be taken before you start to practice in NY. without it, you can be issued a license but you cannot practice in NY.
the advice given is not to worry about these courses until after you pass nclex.
3. others got their (hard) license card in a week or two after passing the nclex and submitting the proof of compliance of the child abuse course.
4. so far, no fingerprint check is required by NY.
5. no english exam is required by NY. you will need english exam for the cgfns visascreen.
6. you can check the slots thru pearson vue website by creating a web account or by calling the number there for a test center in NY.
click the link above for more info about applying for NY and CVS-NY.

Hi kiko88 I just want to ask if I try to create a web account in Pearson Vue is that already equivalent to like registering for the exam. I just really want to check the schedule for the slots and I am just worried that it might mean that I am already applying for the exam when I create an account. Or does creating an account would not matter?

You cannot check schedule for slots until after you have the ATT. Even if you set up an account now with them, you will not have access to the open slots until then, or even how many are at each center.
