265 questions and 6 hours later, I've been defeated.

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

So the first time I failed with 81 questions and felt prepared. I had read Saunders cover to cover answered over 4,000 questions and listened to Hurst audios repeatedly for 3 months. But soon realized I knew less than I thought. I was crushed, depressed..heart broken. After mustering up the energy to arise from my slum, I decided to give it another shot; this time with a different approach. I did NCSBN 3 week review, PDA, Kaplan strategies, Hurst and Feuer Audios and an additional 4,000 more questions on NCLEX 3500 in which I was averaging 65%ish. I feel like I've done everything under the sun to no avail. I even prayed more so than before. If anyone else has had a similar situation, how were you able to slay the NCLEX demon? I don't know what else to do since I think I've done all there is. :/

Signed,

Hopeless

I'm going to tell you one thing; DON'T GIVE UP!

I'm retaking the NCLEX for the 3rd time in less than 3 weeks. I feel like there are too many resources out there that we are utilizing; they're all the same content. I would say stick to HURST to know your core content; look over the kaplan content book. For questions do NCLEX 3500, NCSBN, and exam cram. I personally don't like the Kaplan qbanks (their rationales SUCK!) Do you know where you're going wrong; do you think its your content or how you answer your questions? If it's content then just review the resources I mentioned. If its answering the questions, I suggest you purchase NCLEX-RN Strategies, practice & Review by Kaplan...either 2010-2011 or 2012-2013. I have the 10-20 & JUST bought the 12-13 to see if there's a difference....NONE. So buy either one. Also it is best to purchase the PDA by lacharity everyone has been talking about (They're good for prioritization, delegation & assessment questions).

If you need any additional help just PM me.

Just don't give up, pick yourself up again & keep moving.

Thanks Obloom14 for your input and advice! I definitely won't give up and anything worth fighting for doesn't come easy. When there's a will there's always a way.

totally in the same boat with you all, failed on first try, had 255 questions, many SATA which I really suck at, a lot of conference questions, culture/religion, it was everywhere. I don't think I was ever prepare for this, whatever I studied was not really on the exam. I had so many legal questions, which I didn't even care to brush up on, I used kaplan mainly and was scoring above 70% average, but honestly, I didn't feel prepared. I came out of the testing center knowing I have failed. What would be a good book to practice SATA?

omg hopenfaith where are in the same boat i just took my exam this may 15 its my 1st time and i got so many legal , conference question which i didnt give a time to study up... and on ur SATA i recommend saunders Q&A its like they have 300+ SATA question there...everytime i took there practice test i always get 20+ which is really helpful..

i don't know where to start. what to study for. please help me

Hi you guys, right now it seems as we all are in the same boat. But, what keeps me going is reading all of the success stories on here. Also, I am firm believer if we have made it out of Nursing school we can also conquer this NCLEX MONSTER. having the mindset to keep moving forward is the very first step. I know each one of us can and will pass in 2013. This i am claiming in jesus mighty name!

i would strongly suggest PDA and NCSBN plus PRAYERS. GOD bless you all!
