Hi
I am renewing my certification for FNP with ANCC soon and am trying to find out if I can count my
ACLS and PALS courses. It isnt clear on the website.
These were my initial courses.
They were certainly more involved and more difficult than any CE courses I have done, so I would think they would.
Thanks, and Happy New Year!

You could use ACLS and PALS hours for your ANCC CME with the rule that you can only list each once during the 5 year renewal period even though you would technically have 2 ACLS and 2 PALS renewal sessions during a given 5-year period. I know this because some of my colleagues have been told this when they asked.
Thank you Juan, that's good news!
I was going to count 4 pharmacology credits for each 12 hour class, since that's all I need, but do you
know if there is a standard for determining pharmacology credit?
Thanks again!
I don't know if there is a way to figure it out. Usually, CME's aimed at NP's (those sponsored by AANP or ANCC for example) specify the Pharmacology credit. I used those particular kinds of CME's to make sure I met my Pharmacology credits (last year). I do agree that ACLS and PALS are heavy on Pharmacology so I think you should be OK with how you calculated it. However, I would make sure your total hours go over the minimum required hours just to make sure.

ANCC communicates quickly via email..I would shoot them an email just to verify. Good luck! I just finished mine and am soo glad to have it done !
