Questions about Children's National Medical Center

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hey! I live/work in Boston but I recently applied to Children's National Medical Center. I really want to work in pediatrics and have always wanted to get out of New England so I figured this was my chance! I am concerned though because I only have 6 months of experience in pediatric private duty nursing and still considered a new grad. I applied to a position (RN I/II) that did not require experience but I know they have a new grad program that I think already started (?) so I guess my questions are..

(1) Can I still be considered for the position without doing the new grad program?

(2) Those who have applied and received interviews, how long about did it take for them to contact you? I have to tell my landlord soon whether or not I want to stay and my boyfriend would need to start looking for jobs.

(3) Endorsement in general! It is expensive so I didn't want to apply until I had at least an interview, is this going to hurt my chances? I had planned on spending the extra to get a temporary license (as I heard it can take a while) if I ended up getting the job. Do those come fairly quickly?

Thanks and if you have any information in general about CNMC and/or relocation to DC I would love to hear it!

EDIT: I am even more nervous now, the position I applied to is no longer up! The status of my application says they are reviewing my application and if they are interested they will contact me.

Hekko,

Does anyone know the salary range for RN II at childrens national?

Specializes in PICU.

Salary range for RN II varies with experience. RNI is considered a new grad, every RN who successfully completes orientation is considered RNII, I don't know hat the increments in pay are for years of experience are though. New grads start around 25.25

Hey PediLove2147,

I know I'm a few years late :) , but do you remember how long the application/interview process took for Children's National Medical Center? I'm very interested in a job there, and I've applied for a position...I'm just waiting to hear back. I applied for the job yesterday.

Thanks so much!

It just depends I know I got a call back about a week after I applied but the first time I applied it took them forever. The HR has gotten a little better about call backs...good luck hope you know what you are getting yourself into
