Questions about army nursing

Ok, I am 16, and I have been dreaming joining the army as a nurse for years. I just couldn't ever find any clear answer on how old you have to be enter the army as a nurse. Also, are the majority of hospitals state-side or middle eastern? How "athletic" do you have to be? How long are you usually in service? Thanks!! ;D

I'm guessing an Army recruiter would be thrilled to talk to you (just look up Army in the yellow pages). If you join, they may pay for school- but you'll be committed to them for a specific number of years. There are Army hospitals all over the world- and here. I'm most familiar with BAMC in San Antonio, and one in Rahmstein Germany (I may have killed that spelling- LOL). If you look up Army hospitals on a search engine, you'll get more info. There is probably something under "Army Nursing" that may help you as well.... I've worked with a couple of Army nurses, and they were outstanding to work with- kicked butt and knew their stuff :)

I think you have to be 18- but don't quote me on that :) As far as athletic, not sure- basic training never sounded like much of a picnic- so not sure how athletic you have to be- maybe start working out before you need it !!

when you google "local army recruiter in your area", you will see the list of them. just call them and find the details on how to join nursing in army and how "athletic" do you have to be??

are the majority of hospitals state-side or middle eastern?

i believe state-side :nurse:

Do you want to be a RN or a LPN. If you want to be a RN you must get your BSN and then apply for a commission as an officer. If you go this route you need to speak with a Health Care Recruiter not the local enlisted recruiter.

If you want to be a LPN then you will enlist as 68WM6, (going to change in the future). Go to bootcamp, then on to your school. If this route you want to take you will speak with the local recruiter and you need to be 18 when you enlist. Can sign the paperwork at 17 with your parents also signing.

If you are going the officer route look into ROTC, etc. to help pay for your education.

The majority of Army Hospitals are in the states with couple overseas in Europe & Korea. The hospitals in the Middle East/Afghanistan are temporary hospitals that will leave with the fighting forces leave.
