Hello everyone!
I am currently waiting to hear back from a 4 year program (it would take me three years with my transfer credit) and am hoping to receive my BSN from there. My thoughts are turning towards joining the army as a nurse once I finish.
My questions are mainly about lifestyle. I recently adopted a dog who has been a great addition to my family (I still live at home) and I'm worried that if I join that he will be left at home for too long. Does anyone else army have this problem?
Do you feel like you have enough time to really "live" outside of your job? Or (working in a military hospital) do you find it much like a civilian hospital setting would be?
I would like to eventually go for my CNM and am hoping the army would be able to help me achieve this goal. As a CNM, would I have enough work in the military? Would it only be soldier's I would attend to or could it also be their families (particularly the wives-!) ?
Also, I've grown up around the military (lots of grandparents, uncles, and cousins have joined different branches) but never really learned much about protocol. Did you learn about etiquette, terminology, and routine through classes?
That's just a few to start with :] ! Thanks! :heartbeat

yes. all of that is taught upon entry. I'd focus on the BSN portion and cont' reading the boards. Most applicants being accepted - at this moment- have BSN + with some experience. I'd keep that in mind and think long term goals are supported by successfully gaining BSN... and keep looking forward with that mind set. Things could change as the economy changes but I would recommend keeping the long term focus as most of the details are outside your control.. The alibi is if the ANCP (army nurse candidate program) is available for next fiscal year - then you could join for junior / senior year... if that is of interest contact recruiter soph year to get paperwork started for that...
