Questions about ANC.

Published

Little background information: currently attending a 2 year BSN program. Completed my first year and on track to graduate in May 2011. No prior service.

When should I start the application process? I heard they took on a lot of new graduates this past year so they may not have many spots available for my graduating class. I'd like to get the ball rolling to ensure I have a better chance of being accepted into a summer class. I called the nurse recruiter last August and was told they normally start the process 6 months from graduation, which seemed odd considering the amount of information that must be processed.

What all is involved in the application process? Do I go to meps for a complete physical and/or do I have to complete the AFPT before I start OBLC?

Are there any classes or courses that I need to take over this summer to prepare myself for military nursing? I may have read this incorrectly, but ROTC students attend summer program in a military hospital. Is there something like this for the route I chose?

my advice would be to look into the option of doing the nurse candidate program vs signing up early for the anc... I'd look into that to see if it might pull from a different 'pool of billets' or not.
