question about UPMC and flu vaccine

Published

I usually take my mom to a local hospital that is owned by UPMC for her flu shot. Now on the news they are saying UPMC has no vaccine but her neighbors are telling her that the flu vaccine clinic is still go. Don't tell me to call and ask because I tried that and got a very confused answer.

The huge corporation that owns my former hospital has one facility that bought all their doses from Chiron.....therefore None for them. The one across town bought all theirs from Aventis....now whether they get them all or whether they share/ration themselves is up for debate. Hopefully (and prayerfully) your mom and mine will find a place that can get it for them.

I just found an article in the trib review that says UPMC cancelled their flu clinics at St. Margarets hospitals. So that is that, there is also that a front page headline that says the Burgh is in big trouble as far as vaccine is concerned. Accross the board no one has vaccine at all or very little. UPMC bought all theirs from the wrong place and so did health dept. and visiting nurses.
