Question about titers

Published

I just got the results back from my titers for school and I am very confused.

My rubella was great (last vaccine was about 12 years ago)

Hep. B was non reactive! (I just got vaccinated 4 years ago!)

Varicella was pretty low 0.18 (I had a severe case of chickenpox when I was about 10)

So the vaccines that I didn't think I needed are the ones that I am going to have to get. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a normal thing?

My titers came back fine all my immunizations are working well. One word of advice: if something doesn't seem right to you question it. Both mistakes with my titers were simple. Hep. B-1st time they check for surface antibody instead of surface antigen. Varicella - IgM instead of IgG.

A couple years after I finished my series of 3 Hep vaccines the hospital started doing titers and mine was negative. It took a 4th shot to read positive. I have heard it can take 5 shots in some people. And as previous postings have said, some are never immune.

How do we go about finding these specialized labs?

I'm not sure- my dad is a pediatrician so he found it for me. The one I used is called Focus and it's located out in California.
