Question....

Published

I know that you need to have at least 1-2 years experience to get into travel nursing but I was wondering if that meant full time or part time service. I would like to be able to work towards my BSN and complete my experience requirements at the same time. Can someone help me?

Hey there Treeguy. I am not sure about the ful time part time question, but as a traveler, you have to be VERY comfortable with your skills and abilities. Travelers only get 3-4 days of orientation and after that, you are expected to fuction completely on your own....You just have to be very comfortable with what you do before getting out there. Hope that helps.

I agree with Diarygirl that you really need to be up on your skills when you start traveling because you have an incredibly abbreviated orientation. Also, you should check with your travel company as to how much experience you have to have before they can place you on assignment, and that may even vary based on how what various facilities will take. As far as working on your BSN, many travel companies have connections with various programs which will allow you to get your BSN while you travel. I know this sounds really vague, but unfortunately, that is kinda how traveling can be. Everything depends on the peference of the company and individual facilities. Good luck!
