Good day, I have been meaning to ask this for quite sometime already.
First the back story.
I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines, with a US license as well. I have had my share of experience, but mostly it was as a private duty nurse for a wealthy uncle of mine who had to fight the big C.
I am now pondering and hoping for a successful transfer to a foreign country, Australia being on top of my wishlist. Man I just love the sun, the beach and the laidback attitude of most Australians that I had the privilege of encountering when I went for a vacation there some years ago.
Now my question would be, for me to be able to get an Aus license and hopefully practice my profession there, do I have to go through the BP / Iron program that most, if not all of my fellow Filipino RNs are taking or does my USRN license hold any weight of some sort so that I would not anymore take the EXPENSIVE program/s?
Enlighten me please. :) Thanks!

The purpose of the bridging programs are to integrate the nurse into the Australian way of health care and culture.
Drugs spelling, orders that are written and a nursing philosophy based on the English system.
Australia is also is not part of the US of A and have a separate nurses board. Having passed an overseas country's licensing system is not recognized as education in the Australian system of healthcare.
I therefore doubt that you will get out of the extra study.... though you will need to be assessed first by the Australian board first.
