Question reg employment

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello everyone! Is it really hard to find a nursing job here in Fl? I migrated here in Florida from the Philippines last June 2013 and have been unlucky in finding a job in the hospitals. I have RN licenses in Vermont and Florida, a BSN degree and 2 years experience in Nursery and NICU in the Philippines. I was wondering what states offer the most opportunity for nurses specifically recently migrated nurses because we would also like to transfer to another state. We like Florida but we don't want to settle here. Thank you for your time.

They want me to have more experience here in the US first which is impossible because no one is accepting me. My email ad is [email protected]. I'm jobless too lol

This is really killing me. I'm so bored and stressed. Im almost giving up this profession. :scrying:

Specializes in Med/Surg, ICU, ER, Peds ER-CPEN.

Have you tried adventist health? They run the Florida Hospital chains and are very Phillipine Nurse friendly, I worked for their Heartland division and had many coworkers and friends from the Philippines. Good luck in your job search

Unfortunately, there's no adventist health around pensacola or nearby city. I think the nearest is tampa.

Original poster stated they were in Ocala, there are several there, they are all over mid & South Florida. An in state move to gain experience might be a better option than across the country.

Hello! I tried applying there several times but they keep on rejecting me. Do you think it's advisable for me to transfer to another state? thank you for your time!

I think you might continue to run into the same issue, try smaller hospitals outside of Orlando too. Like I said, an in state move is easier. And I noticed after moving to MI I haven't seen hardly any nurses from the Philippines.

Okay, the best thing I can do now is to not give up. I heard that it's easier to find work in Texas though I'm not sure about that. Thank you for your advice. :)

@mcl87 & cookieatpogi - Please pm me if you're still looking for job.

I've already replied once but thought of something else since you wrote that you are willing to relocate. I worked for a small hospital called Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach. It was a great little hospital to work in with a great location. They hired a lot of PhiIippino nurses when I was there. The company also runs three other hospitals in the area: Holmes Regional Medical Center (large Level I in Melbourne), Viera Hospital and Palm Bay hospital. In addition, they run an in and outpatient Hospice, Home Health, Outpatient Surgery and several physician buildings. They have a big staffing pool. It is about 40mins. east of Orlando.

There are several jobs where experience is not required. No jobs in NICU/L&D that I saw.

I work in Daytona at Halifax health and we are always looking for nurses.
