question re: peds home care

Published

wasnt sure whether to post this in agency forum or here but since it is peds-specific decided to start here. I am signing on with a couple of peds homecare agencies for private duty-type cases. I am doing this because (1) I love working with special needs children, and (2) I really need flexibility since I am in a MSN program.

So far I have talked to Interim and Maxim. I live in a rural area of NE GA and they have cases relatively close to me. Actually Maxim has cases closer to me but I was not terribly impressed with the person I spoke with on the phone. He was very evasive about salaries and the ballpark figure I finally got out of him was much lower than Interim. He was evasive about other details as well.

So far I have gotten a better feel from Interim but someone I met recently who is the mom of a special needs child was singing the praises of Maxim and actually referred me to them.

So maybe it was just the person I spoke with?

Anyway, feedback on either/both or others would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I hear ya. Maxim does have their ads everywhere. I know of 2 people that have worked with them, and one comment was positive and one negative. I know they don't seem to pay anymore than anyone else also. That may be a good idea to go with a local agency.
