10 minutes, 10 questions, none of the material I studied. But I studied ALL of the material, I thought. I can't memorize 75 pages and we aren't SUPPOSED to memorize anything at all. But how can I get through these quizzes? We get 35 pages of notes each lecture, which is once a week. We are also assigned 75 pages to read. This is each week, so I study my notes, read the pages, and grasp the concept. I only missed 3 questions on the quiz, but since the quizzes are weighted at 40% compared to 5% for everything else, I have a C in the class!
I don't know if I'm looking for advice or what, but I am paying out of pocket for this schooling and I don't have ANY extra money to spend on a failing class! Not very practical, I realize, but I already have a degree and my financial aid has run out!
Does anyone have ANY tips?

Have you spoken to your faculty at all? Since they write the quizzes and determine the grading, that might be a really good place to seek clarification on their expectations, which you can then translate into better learning goals.

If the questions are NCLEX style, get a study guide (or multiple study guides) and review the information and questions related to the topics your are covering. Also, listen to GrnTea and go talk to your professor or professors, they can help provide guidance. Once you have done that, find someone who is rocking the quizzes and figure out how they know what to concentrate on when studying-avoid that individual who just seems to "get it" without really studying, they will be of no help to you unless your thought processes are the same.

I am one month into my LPN program and about half of my classmates wish they were getting C's on quizzes and exams. You're passing at least, but yes...do please consult with your instructors if you feel you don't know what to really expect from exams and quizzes.
Thanks everyone. I buckled down and studied hard and I'm pretty sure I got a 10/10!! I'm going to take all of your suggestions. Thanks so much for responding. It really helps.

Usually professors put anything they want you to study in their notes. I would usually just study the notes, and look the things that confused me up in my textbook. As others have suggested, it is always best to seek guidance from your instructors especially after you have a poor grade on a test or quiz. Usually you can request to meet, and then you can go through the wrong answers with your instructors giving you the rationale. I found that this was helpful in learning to "think like a nurse".
