Okay i know this is not exactly a nursing question but i was wondering if anyone knows the difference between medical coding and medical billing? I have found a website that is offering both but i don't know the difference. thanks

There really isn't any. You bill with the codes.

Are you a nurse considering switching to medical coding/billing? I've been in nursing nearly 25 years with the last five self employed as a RN foot care specialist. I want to do something else so bad, but in this economy I feel like my choice better be right on if I'm going to spend money on schooling. I believe there is a difference between coding and billing. In Wisconsin you can become a certified coder, whether you are also the biller is up to the facility you work for. I know an LPN that just puts appropriate codes with appropriate diagnosis so that the biller, bills properly.

It depends on the job whether one does only billing or coding or does both billing and coding. It would be an advantage to be knowledgeable in both areas for better employment purposes. I've read that people get the training, (very expensive), but then have problems getting that first job because, of course, employers look for experience. The ads I've seen specify experience necessary to apply.
