Question on pa nursing license

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi, Does anyone know if the state of arizona excepts nursing license from pa? I am starting nursing school in august 2008, and i am planning on moving to arizona when i graduate in 2010. And if not is there some way i can take a combined boards test, so that i would'nt have to take it once i get to arizona? I tried getting through the pa board of nursing, i was put on hold so i just gave up.

thanks weesie1244:nurse:

I would suggest that you check with the Arizona state board of Nursing. They would be able to answer these questions. Also when you graduate you could just apply to Arizona and bypass Pa together if you're not gonna require a license in PA.

i've not heard of any established rn program graduate from pa nursing school being denied license in another state as pa requires graduation from an approved program along with minimum# clinical hours be obtained to even site for nclex exam.

i agree with blinks14. have your school forward your transcripts to arizona to obtain att (permission to take nclex) and get initial license there. no need to obtain in pa if never working here.

az: registered nurse/licensed practical nurse application by examination

requirements for rn/lpn applicants educated in the usa or territories

1. submit a complete application and fees.

2. rn applicants hold a diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree in nursing from an approved program. lpn

applicants hold a diploma or certificate from an approved program.

3. have passing score on nclex exam.

4. arizona graduates only - proof of completion of an approved nursing program.*

5. graduates of out-of-state schools - transcripts, including graduation dates and type of degree, sent by your school to azbn.

6. fingerprint results from arizona department of public safety and the fbi.

7. board approval for applicants who are under investigation.

8. applicants educated in the armed forces: military programs designed to prepare persons for positions as corpsmen or

technicians are not approved programs for licensure in arizona.

good luck with school!
