i am taking a class this summer to obtain my bsn and i was wondering if you could share your ideas on nurses crossing the line. should nurses cross the line with a client-becoming involved or too close with them.
thank you for your time

I am just a student but IMO nurses should NOT become involved with patients...not only do I think it is unprofessional, I also think that it could cloud your judgement as a health care provider...JMO...:)

I think you definately have to be guarded that you dont get involved with your patients to personally. Of course you need to be friendly, courteous, and a good listener and perhaps make reports regarding abuse which means listening to your patient, but taking on responsibilities that are beyond your job description as it pertains to your work is a nono. They have POA's, family, neighbors and friends that can take on personal situations.
