hi,

i am a nursing student from the Philippines graduating this march. my mother filed a petition and i received my visa for immigration and is going to the US right after graduation. I just want to know if I could take the NCLEX exam without passing my local (philippine) board exam? can i be a Candidate for NClex even if i graduated from a foreign university?

I am moving your post to the International forum, where it is more appropriate, and we can answwer your questions better for you.

You do not need to take the licensing exam in the Philippines first. Only requirement for the US is that you have a completed set of transcripts, so you will not be able to even begin the process until you have a completed set of transcripts. Since you will have a green card, you will not need to go thru the Visa Screen process, but depending on the state, you may be required to have a credentials evaluation done by CGFNS, called the CES. You can find out information about it by going to www.cgfns.org.

And no issue at all with being a foreign nursing grad................:balloons:

Suzanne, Im asking you this question in behalf of my friend from the philippines who just graduated from nursing, haven't take the philippine board exam yet and wanted to apply the nclex exam in chicago. What are the requirements does the chicago board of nursing need?

Thanks :)

You can refer to the link in still_cool's thread CGFNS not req'd in Illinois

Illinois only requires the CES, done by CGFNS, but no longer requires the exam, as of last July, 2005.
