I'm an LPN student and in our handbook it says that some clinical facilities require the students to carry medical insurance. I have none now because I had to leave my full time job for nursing school. So my question is how can I go about getting some good insurance just for this semester (I'm getting married in January so then I'll be on my husband-to-be's insurance plan.)? Would Medicaid be the way to go? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I went to school at Gadsden State, and they got us connected with an insurance group for that purpose. The insurance was virtually useless, however it was enough to satisfy the requirments of haveing to have it... anyway the name of the company is "Commercial Travelers Mutual Insurance Company." I am sure you can find their web site and go from there. It was less than $300 for 12 months if you paid for the entire 12 months at one time. Good Luck!

Depending on where you go to school, you may be able to get insurance as a student through the school.
The State of AL also offers high risk insurance for those of us who cannot get coverage otherwise. You can email me if you need more information.
