Question about Maricopa Nursing - CEP program

Published

Hi!

I will be done with all my prerequisites and co-req's for Upper Iowa's CEP program by December this year and I will be applying for Fall 2016 semester but I was told by my adviser that I'll definitely get accepted. If I chose to take some other classes for Spring semester 2016 I could also apply to the NAU and ASU CEP program but I'm not sure if taking more prerequisites to get into NAU or ASU would matter? I'm a little worried that UI might not be as respected as NAU or ASU though and I've had some people tell me that it could be an issue when applying to jobs but if the hospitals are just looking for someone with a BSN I would rather just apply to UI I think. Any personal experience or input?

UIU is regionally accredited just like NAU and ASU are. They just happen to have a home campus in Iowa, but they also have a sister campus in Mesa.

It's been my experience that people who think UIU won't be as "accepted" don't have a clue that it's an actual university that is accredited just like any other major state university. They hear "Iowa" and think it is weird because we are in AZ. People get their RN-BSN from many different places, it shouldn't be an issue at all as long as the place you get it from is accredited (and as I already stated, UIU is completely).

The only thing I've heard about degrees being looked down on and people having difficulty getting a job with are from the schools like Brookline and Chamberlain.

So if I were you, I wouldn't waste money on taking courses for NAU or ASU if you will have everything you need to apply for UIU because they do not put a cap on how many students they will accept for the CEP. So if you apply for UIU, you're in and it would just be a matter of which Maricopa location you'd be attending.

Also, make sure you have the humanities you'd need to go towards your BSN. Spring 2016 would be a good time to knock those out if you haven't already done so. That's what I have to do this semester before I start the CEP in January.
