Question about L&D

I have a question that I'm having trouble answering. What is the significance of a women being 5 cm dilated; 80% effaced; and -1 station? My understanding is that she is in the first stage of labor and in the active phase. The active phase (according to my book) is when she is 4 or more cm dilated and 80% or more effaced. However, she is at a -1 station, which is where I'm getting confused. Also, her contractions are 3 minute frequencies with 60 duration. They are sharp and "biting" at peak and slight pink show is present. She is 40 weeks. Fundal height is 36 cm and fetus is palpable in ROA position. It gives no information about ROM. Is anyone able to help me understand this? Thanks!

she would be in the active phase. -1 is just the heighth. whether the head comes down more depends on the shape of the pelvic outlet and the infants head and position. minute lone contractions are effective as are having contractions every 3 minutes. oa is for occiput anterior which is correct. rom stands for rupture of membranes which is either srom for spontaneous or arom for artificial. I hope this helps. ;)
