Question about infection room assignment.

I know air born precaution should be in a strict private room. But what if there's no private room and just semi private room with the same airborne infection such as varicella. Can I put 2 same patient together? I know skin infection goes to a semi private room with an infectious patient. So basically infection-infection, clean-clean patient. For droplet can I put them to a semi private room together as well if private room is not available? Just need clarification. Thanks!

Yes you can put 2 patients together with airborne precautions if there is no private room available. we can put patients together with the same organism infection. But never put dirty (infected ) patient with post ops or pt's who are immunosuppressed. We can put 2 patients with droplet precautions together instruct the staff and visitors to stay 3 feet away and provide masks to the visitors coz they might forget about the 3 feet thing.

About the skin infection yes you can coherent patients with skin infections together but be cautious about post op patients..
