Question about Indiana State LPN-BSN..

Nursing Students LPN-RN

So my state, Nevada does not recognize this program. But if I completed the clinicals in CA and graduated from the program, and take my boards for CA. Would I be able to get a license in NV afterwards? I'm just worried that i won't be able to get a license in states that do not recognize the program..

This program is through the college network. THIS IS A COMPLETE SCAM! So many of my peers have been ripped off by this program. Dont even waste your time

Indiana State distance learning - if you are in Nevada and they do not recognize the school, then you could only work in states that recognize the school. This is the very problem that Excelsior grads are facing--CA will not recognize the school. If you took the Excelsior program, got your RN degree, and then applied to CA for licensing they would turn you down as you graduated from an 'unauthorized program'. Nevada may do the same thing.

As far as the program at Indiana State, you are not required to take anything from The College Network. If you need prerequisites, I suggest you go to a community college or university--and the prerequisites would be transferable.

Once you have your prerequisites and your transcripts are evaluated by ISU, then the next thing is to pass 4 challenge courses. You do not have to use The College Network to study and take the challenge courses. They sell books that readies you for the tests, but they are exactly the same thing you would find in any nursing textbook about adult med/surg; peds; family nursing; psych. Combine them with some of the Lippencott How To Get A's in (psych, med surg, peds, etc) and you are on your way. You could save $2,000 by not buying The College Network course for the challenge tests.

As far as ISU being a rip off, I cannot say. Once you have your prerequisites done, you would not be using The College Network. I am in the middle of studying for the last few challenge exams and I did not use The College Network because I already have a bachelors.

What I have found with ISU is that the staff can be short if you do not understand how to work their distant learning system. They do need to make the distance learning program a little more user friendly. Other than that, that is all I can tell you.
